One night near CDG airport

I will be traveling from Bordeaux to Paris to meet my husband at the airport. He gets in early so I need to stay over the night before, somewhere nearby. Any suggestions? Also, should I rent the car outside the airport and drive in to get him or would that be difficult, not knowing the airport at all? I.e., would it be better to meet up and get the car at the airport.

Stay at a hotel at CDG, at the same terminal at which he will arrive. After you have met his plane, the two of you can pick up your pre-arranged rental car at one of the CDG car rental offices. Google for hotel names at the terminal in question.

We just returned from a trip to France and stayed at the Sheraton which is in Terminal 2 the night before our flight. It was an extremely nice hotel and made getting to our flight so easy the next day. It was a fairly short walk from the Sheraton to the American Airlines check in at Terminal 2. Highly recommend it.

Recommend CitizenM Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Took this recommendation from another Rick Steves forum post. The hotel was highly recommended. Although we cancelled our reservation for this August, as we now plan to stay in Paris, this hotel was a pleasure to work with. They were most accommodating to book and cancel with no problems.

Understand the hotel is conveniently located near airport with easy access.

Your post seems to imply that you'll be coming from Bordeaux by train or by air. In either case, I'd suggest reserving the car for pickup at the airport itself, after your husband arrives, so you don't have to figure out and pay for parking there. And, on his jet-lagged arrival day, you should be the driver for everyone's safety. If he's going to be a driver later, of course you'll have to set that up when you get the car after he arrives.

There are a number of good hotels right in CDG, I liked the Ibis but there are other choices. The CDG website should have good info on what is where.

Any of the hotels located at the airport work well and are very convenient. I've stayed at the IBIS Styles airport and had maybe a 100yd walk to pick up the free CDGVAL, which takes you right to your departure terminal.
