One Full day in paris, starting/end at Gare Du Nord

Hi,

I have only 1 day to see something in Paris. I will be reaching in night and staying at hotel near Gare Du Nord. I will have next full day till night. Later day, I will need to fly out from CDG. Being very time, it is getting difficult for me to arrange route and places. I tried to make a rough plan, but still need a better version if somebody can suggest and few questions. These places seems scattered, when I check on google map. How should I arrange and pick transports ?

Route can be --> Gare Du Nord - Opera - Eiffel Tower - St Michel - Notre Dame - Arc de Triomphe - Champs Elysees - De La Concorde - La Madeleine - Place Vendome - Tuileries - The Louvre - Seine Cruise with Vedettes du Pont Neuf - Back to hotel.

Considering my short time, I am also biased towards taking Eiffel Tower tour. I am feeling like, most photogenic pictures will come from ground, not from top of tower. Am I thinking in right way ? Where would be best place to take pictures ?
Based on whatever you will suggest, should I take any pass or point to point ticket buying at each station will be good ? We are two adults.

Thanks in advance

To maximize your time, check on-line to be familiar with using the Metro in Paris. If you want to go up the Eiffel Tower, check with site on-line months ahead to reserve tickets which will save you a lot of time. The Louvre - are you planning to go inside or just see the building? Going inside can easily take 3 hours. There's too many items listed for the time that you have, so pick your top priorities regardless of where they're located in the city. OR, an option that I never do, but you might want to consider - the Hop On/Hop Off bus, if you're just trying to see places. But, I would recommend a shorter list, and go inside the Opera building or the Louvre, sit down & enjoy a Parisian breakfast - feel like you experienced Paris vs. a quick "drive by".

For this rather busy day you will need one 'carnet' of 10 individual Metro tickets (5 each) ...

--From your hotel take the Metro, ending on Line 8 (light purple) to Ecole Militaire
0900 Eiffel Tower (start here - book an early ascent)
--From Champ de Mars | Tour Eiffel take RER C (yellow) to St Michel | Notre Dame
1100 Notre Dame
1300 Lunch
--From Hotel de Ville take Metro Line 1 (yellow) to Charles de Gaulle | Etoile
1400 Arc de Triomphe & Champs Elysees (don't linger - walk down a bit, cross, and walk back)
--From Charles de Gaulle | Etoile take Metro Line 1 (yellow) to Concorde
1500 Walk Place de la Concorde - Madeleine - Opera - Place Vendome -Tuileries
1600 The Louvre (hopefully you can plan for a Wednesday or Friday when closing is 2145)
2000 Dinner
2200 1 hour Seine cruise with Vedettes du Pont Neuf http://vedettesdupontneuf.com/cruises/
-- Access the Metro with Line 7 (pink) at Pont Neuf to return to your hotel

Thanks Jean and djpsyd. Nice suggestions. I read more about places/route you mentioned and tried to be more fair with places.
If I choose to see places mentioned by djp
syd, it can be done with Metro as mentioned and also by Big Bus Company, which can take us to same places. "1 Day Bus and Cruise" is 37.80 per person. Will it be more convenient, since bus will pick/drop right at attractions ?

In October, it will run every one hour. What if, that bus is full ? Do I need to wait for next bus after one hour
Jean, you didn't like that bus travel. May I know why ? Just trying to understand if there is any drawback, I am missing.

I have never done a Hop On Hop Off (Big Bus) type tour. I prefer to do my own thing. That's also a choice for you.
