We leave Mont - Saint - Michel early Aug. and have a day and a half to get to Lille to catch the Chunnel. Any ideas for interesting side trips and a town in which to stay? Alencon, Evreux, small town along the way?

Do you know Rouen ? If not, it could be the perfect town for your one night stay (on summer, every evening, there is a stunning free "sound and light" show onto the cathedral) and there are many beautiful museums, lots of restaurants and shops. This is a medieval town where it's very pleasant to walk (i know what i talk about, it's where I live !)
