Hello! Can anyone help us plan a one-day bike route that includes perhaps Chateau d'Usse or Chateau Chenonceau and a couple vineyards to wine taste at and somewhere to stop for lunch? We are staying in Montbazon but could pick up a bike anywhere within a half hours drive of there to do a one-day riding tour. We are intermediate bikers. Thank you!
Hi Pam,
I have done a day's ride from Amboise that included the Chateau of Chenonceau, with lunch in the town next door, then to Chaumont, and back to Amboise. That's about 37 miles, and on roads with some traffic. Amboise has several bike rental shops, and is about a half hour from Montbazon according to Google maps. You also find there a place called Caveau des Vignerons with a nice selection of local wines and cheeses to cap off your day.
For more ideas, try the website www.loireavelo.fr to see some route options. And when you are on location, ask any town's Tourist Information for their free bike-path map.
Mary
Thank you Mary! Do you remember what town you stopped for lunch in? And were the bike paths/roads around Chenonceau designated bike paths, shared roadways, busy with car traffic? Thank you.
