One day in Colmar/ Alsace region - is it enough?

I We will be in Colmar/ Alsace region from July 5th afternoon to July 6th evening, and then return back to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. is that enough time? What are the top places we must visit?

Any recommendations of wineries with tour of wine cellar and food on sight that we must visit that has all the types of Alsace wines?

Should we spend more time in Alsace?

We are thinking of renting a car, since we have 3 people. Do you think it is a cost effective idea?

Thank you!

Have you looked at any guidebooks for that area? Any of the tourism websites? TripAdvisor? Many people spend a week in the region, so with the time you have, you will really have to focus your interests. And keep in mind, if you're planning on wine tastings, that the driver wont be participating.

"One day in Colmar/ Alsace region - is it enough?" - NO, see my reply to your other post. That is just enough to see Colmar.

Thank you Chris for helping me be more realistic. I am a first time traveler, and can be unrealistic.

I think I will rent a car in Zurich and then drive around Colmar and other villages like Eguisheim and Riquewihr.

I think I will adjust to spend 2 days there.

We were in that area for almost a week and never felt that we saw everything. There is 90 miles of vineyards and little villages in between to explore. Such a beautiful area, would love to go back.
