You can walk along the coast but I think taking the short train to Monte Carlo is a better idea. See the palace, changing rooms of the guard

How much time do you have in port? I'd spend at least some time in old town Nice, the market, the Promenade des Anglais, maybe one museum and lunch somewhere around Place Massena in the old town. Then if you have time take the short train or bus ride to Monaco to see the Prince's Palace and the Cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Rainier are buried.

Also, since I believe the ship docks at Villefranche sur Mer you could just explore that area, there's much to see and do there unless Nice is where you really want to go. Check out this website for Villefranche sur Mer.

There's lots to see and do in that whole area depending on how long you have in port.

Hi brett, I think you have plenty of time to see a bit of Nice and take the bus/train to Monaco. The entire area is beautiful. As Nancy mentioned, in Monaco go to the palace and the church. The Oceanographic museum is also very nice if you have time. One of my favorite memories is just taking a break in the garden and checking out all the yachts.

Nice is a beautiful city!
Wander its streets, enjoy. Visit the Musee Marc
Chagall and Musee Matisse.
Antibes is adjacent to Nice. Villefranche is near( cruise port.)

Nancy has some good suggestions but I'd stick to Nice itself -- the old town, Chagall Museum, Matisse Museum if it's reopened, Russian Cathedral, Promenade des Anglais, Castle Hill, etc.

I don't remember seeing a cruise port at Nice itself, you may be tendering ashore or docking in another nearby city. Exactly where and how you get on and off the ship may affect your plans for those nine hours. (And if you haven't bought an excursion through the ship, don't expect to get off until those people have first.)

are you actually stopping in Nice or in nearby Villefranche-sur-Mer. That may inform where you decide to spend time. Also, what are your interests and as mentioned, do you have another nearby stop where you are taking an excursion?
