One and Half days in Nice?

We will be in Nice for approx one and half days.We are flying in from Amsterdam the morning of June 30th and leaving for Toulouse on July 1st afternoon via rental car.

What are top things to do? We like outdoors, walking around seeing sights, markets, scenic beauty of a city and most importantly FOOD. We were hoping to get out to Monte Carlo and Eze for a few hours on June 30th evening, and spend rest of the time in Nice covering as much as we can.

Hotel or restaurant recommendations welcome!!

See a list of top sites at Nice - At a Glance. If you like the art of either Marc Chagall or Henri Matisse, then don't miss their museums. Strolling Vieux Nice can be an evening activity; people dine and stay our late there.

We really enjoyed the Russian Orthodox Church, 'Castle Hill' (amazing views - there is a free elevator up) and we wandered thru the market but got there just as it was closing down (we only had a day). And just wandering thru the Old Town was pretty cool...

We were in Nice last month and were very impressed with the renovation of the Vieux Nice area. stretching from Place Massena to the Contemporary Art Museum. On the recommendation of our hotel, we had a dinner at Villa d'Este. Yes, it's Italian; but so was Nice, at one time.
