"Off" days in "off" seasons

With 21 days of France travel this October, I obviously can't avoid Sundays and Monday ;-).
Our itinerary has us spending a Sunday and Monday based in Chinon. Will this hamper our experience much (both in Chinon and touring adjacent Chateaux)?
Our other Sun/Mon will primarily be driving/outdoor exploration days.

Monday is the day touristy French towns close down -- you need to look on the websites of the chateaux you want to visit to see if they are open the days you will be there.

And check for restaurants in advance too, so you know what your options are for Sunday / Monday - and can reserve ahead if necessary.

Some of the smaller privately owned chateaux are closed over winter, and a couple of the bigger ones are shut on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Most are open every day of the year.

Monday closing is a bit of a myth - the most difficult day for restaurants will probably be Sunday evening, but even in a relative backwater like Chinon there's always something open.

Thank you all! As we get closer to the date, I'll check restaurant availabilities, etc. I'm encouraged that, as a first-time France traveler, there will be plenty to soak up and relish and this will be the first of many trips!
