Would appreciate any comments about a stay in this area--Thinking of flight into Paris and then somehow finding our way to this town to attend a wedding. Any suggestions about transit, places to stay, sights would be very welcome. Thank you!
You're aware that Oberlarg is a lot closer to the Swiss city of Basel than it is to Paris, right? If you're committed to flying into Paris and not Basel, there's a TGV from Paris to Basel but it doesn't stop anywhere, so you'd have to backtrack. Train from Paris to Mulhouse might be your best railway connection. See https://www.rome2rio.com/s/Paris/Mulhouse
You are not "backtracking". Oberlarg is 20 miles west southwest of Basel. If you can get a flight to Basel Europort, rent a car there on the French side and drive. If you fly to Paris, you'll have to get to Paris Gare de Lyon (easy either by bus or RER) and take a train to Basel. But keep your ears open about rail strikes if this event is this summer.
Realize Basal is the closer airport, was thinking might be a scenic route to take from Paris--just under 400 kilometers I think by car and wondered about public transit as we do not have to rush to or from Oberlang.
If you have time, Burgundy is on the way, or Alsace to the north.
