NYE in Paris with Kids

We will be in Paris for NYE with kids (11 & 12) staying in the St Germain area. Suggestions that won't break the bank and would be fun for the kids...they told me they don't want to watch old people dance all night lol...Thanks!

There will be a light show at the Arc de Triomphe, at 11:40. Expect to be on the Champs-Elysees way before then.
Be prepared to walk home - leave your fancy shoes at home, and wear sneakers - no possibility of taking the Metro safely, and there are no buses or taxis.

After that, you're on your own. You've left it for too short a time except for the high-priced hotels and restaurants.

We had a lot of fun one New Years Eve on the Champs Élysées. By the time we got there, the street benches were all occupied by elderly Parisians who probably had been there since noon, We sat on the sidewalk with our bottle of wine and watched the passing parade, people singing, Germans in a Congo line, lots of music and dancing, naughty boys setting off fire crackers, and all this surveyed by many, many watchful gendarmes. Then we went home to bed.

We will most likely just take them down to Champs Elysee and watch from there. What about restaurant suggestions??

If you don’t already have a reservation , you’d best buy some take out food and eat in your hotel room.

I was at the Trocodero (overlooking the Eiffel Tower), one NYE a few years ago. The Tower sparkles every hour. It was fun and festive, but mobbed. The Champs Elysee was packed - wall to wall people -- and there were no buses or metro - believe it or not, the city closes all public transportation at midnight. So you have to count on walking home, as we did. It was delightful for my husband and me, as it wasn't too cold or raining. But count on at least an hour walk to the 6eme. Consider going to le Pont Neuf, seeing the Eiffel Tower in the distance and taking in the beautiful lights along the river. It would be a real treat and you'd be close to your hotel.

Your best bet is to visit a supermarket, empty the minibar, and eat before or after midnight.
Many supermarkets will be open late.

Yea i think our plan is to eat early and do the festivities a little bits away from the main action. Pont Neuf might definitely be an option! :)

The latin quarter of Paris has a lot to offer and has a wide variety of restaurants and nightlife.
