Notre Dame without timed ticket reservations - is it possible?

I've been trying without any success to obtain timed entrance tickets from the official website. I need a backup plan. Can we just show up? How hard would it be?

Thank you,

Last April I just showed up because I couldn’t get online reservations either. I got there about 1:30 pm on a Monday. There was a line but it moved pretty quickly. Took me about 20 minutes to get in. It was gorgeous! So go for it.

June 25, 2025 - we got in line at 10:50, entered at 11:10. The line moves fast. It is quite crowded inside - you might want to agree where to meet if you get separated. I also saw a post somewhere that some tourists were refused entry because of too short shorts or bare shoulders - second hand information, so just a caveat.

We were there in May 2025 and had timed entry. The regular line was very very long. It is also very crowded inside but incredible.

I was just in Paris a couple of weeks ago. I tried to get the timed ticket for an early Sunday evening. I had no luck so I went anyway. The line looked long and daunting but it moved very quickly. I would say I was in the Cathedral in 20 minutes. Once in, I sat for part of the Mass and then worked my way around. It was very crowded and hard to move around but the Cathedral is breathtaking, inside and out.

I was there in early April with my 2 grandkids, and no reservation. We just got in line and were inside the cathedral within 15 minutes.

FYI, if you want to attend a service, there is a separate line to the right of the the entrance. No tickets required, no long wait in line and you can look around after the service.
