Notre Dame tip

Just left Paris this morning and found two things I’d like to share about Notre Dame. Around the backside in the Saint Joan park, facing the church on your right hand side theres a free bathroom that is clean. The ones Rick mentioned in the front by the Charlemagne statue are closed. Around the front side facing the towers on the left across the street is a water fountain on the corner , you can fill up your water bottles. I found the water fountains to be very hard to come by in Paris.

Good tips ... getting water and finding a toilet can make a difference!

We hung around Notre Dame this afternoon ... such a beautiful day with a warm breeze and people enjoying their Sunday, as the cherry blossoms gave perhaps their last shimmering show of the spring. The bathroom you mentioned in the back was closed this afternoon; maybe there’s a rotation.

As for water, keep an eye out for those Wallace Fountains all around the city. You might not notice them if you don’t know what to look for. There’s one right in front of Shakespeare & Company. We found another regular water fountain in the park behind the Cluny (rue des Ecoles side), so maybe check in the little parks. And we used another one on the river side of Notre Dame itself ... the opposite side the OP mentions I think; it’s about 2/3 of the way to the back, near the nice little shaded grove of cherry trees before you reach the Square Jean XXIII Park.

There is no rhyme or reason when the bathroom in the park behind ND will be open or closed, unfortunately.
