We will be there Monday. Is there still a lot of scaffolding on the outside?

The fire was ofcourse a drama to say the least, but without it we never would witness something so unique like this restoration.

it is not so much scaffolding as the wooden barricade around the whole area. It has photos of the restoration work which is very interesting. There is a grandstand where you can sit and contemplate the cathedral.

The scaffolding is mainly in the back and built around the flying buttresses. It is truly a remarkable engineering feat! There are at least three cranes. The workers work until after 6 p.m. and on the weekends, as well. You cannot get close to Notre Dame as there are solid, tall perimenters around the whole of it. You can, however, visit a temporary enclosed display of the construction of ND.

Yes, ND is visible especially from the front. Seeing the flying buttresses project from the scaffolding is impressive. Try to sit outside at Cafe Panis for a nice view of Notre Dame. You can also have a nice view of ND from Odettes outside on rue Galande while enjoying a nice cup of coffee and macarons.
