Notre Dame Paris

Some weeks ago a Te Deum at Notre Dame was announced for April 15. No further information about this seems to be available. Does anyone know more about it?

According to the Paris tourism website:

The reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris is announced for the 8th December 2024. A Te Deum is planned for 15 April 2024, exactly 5 years after the fire. The supervision of the restoration is entrusted to the architect Philippe Villeneuve. The general principle is to rebuild the cathedral identically, including the spire.

The redevelopment of the forecourt and the surroundings of Notre-Dame de Paris - whose final delivery is scheduled for 2027 - is being carried out by the team of the Belgian architect and landscape architect Bas Smets. The project leaves a lot of room for green spaces and the enhancement of the façade of the famous monument.

I posted the same question two weeks ago on this forum and nobody had a response. So, it still seems to be a mystery.

alanheatherington, We shall see you there if by chance we ever figure it out! I think I deleted my original post because I couldn't find it when I looked for it today. I guess I felt defeated! (:

The problem is that no internet source indicates the time or place of the Te Deum service on 4/15

I did find one source that said the Te Deum would be in Notre Dame but it did not indicate what time. I'm sorry that I did not make a note of which website that was. I do think it might be worthwhile checking any website that mentions it to see if they have a way of contacting them, and then doing that asking about the time.

Another option is if you're already going to be in Paris on the 15th or before, you could stop by Notre Dame as they will most likely have something posted on or near the church telling about the Te Deum.

It's crazy that this information is so hard to find.

Thank you, Joe32F, for the email addresses. I have written to both and will be sure to post if I receive a response. And KD, if I do find out more, I certainly will hope that our paths might cross at this very special Te Deum service. Fr. Alan✠

I am wondering if the Office of Tourism didn’t pick up an old story and simply repeat it without checking on it. Most of the references in French sources I can find about a Te Deum being scheduled for April 2024 date from December 2019, when the goal was to open the Cathedral in April 2024. (Now, of course, we know it won’t officially re-open until December 8, 2024).

I have looked and looked and can not find anything that gives details about an event for April 15.

I will keep my eyes and ears open, but I really think Church authorities and both specialized and general press would be talking about this and have information on their sites if something this big and important were happening in the next 10 days.

Hopefully I will be proven wrong, and we will find some information about it!

I'm in Paris right now, and have been for awhile. We've even been leaving close to Notre Dame. I don't see how anything could be prepared for any service in or near the Cathedral on April 15.

We just left Paris. As soon as I saw the cathedral I thought, how is this going to be ready by December, let alone a Te Deum service outside this month.
