Staring a Seine cruise late Friday afternoon. Is it crazy to try to see ND earlier that day? I’ve seen the schedule of services, just wondering how busy it is o this day along with possible delays getting to the port.
Due to the special services in addition to the Veneration of the Crown of Thorns from 10 am to 5 pm, I would expect the Cathedral to be more crowded with worshippers than usual. Keep in mind as a tourist that you will not be able to rent the Audio Guide since the shop will be closed.
Notre Dame does have capacity limits. I would think that worshippers would take priority over tourists on Good Friday. So expect waits longer than usual.
Personally. I would choose another time to visit Notre Dame if I wasn't attending as a worshipper.
What Jean said. It is the most solemn day in the Catholic calendar. If you attend any of the services, such as the Stations of the Cross, expect them to be rather long. You may want to attend another day.
