We are planning to visit both the same day. Is it better to plan one over the other first? How much time should we allow for both, and what is the best way to get from one to the other.
Do you plan to go up the Eiffel Tower? Will you have a reservation? I think that should dictate what order you do things. The RER C goes between the Eiffel Tower and the St. Michel station. Notre Dame is just a few minutes walk from there.
Hi Barbara, if it were my trip, I'd visit Notre Dame during the day and the Eiffel Tower in the early evening. Then I'd do a 1 hour boat ride on the Seine.
The official site for ET tickets is: http://www.toureiffel.paris/en/preparing-your-visit/buying-your-tickets.html. - they go on sale 90 days in advance and sell out very quickly. If you can't get tickets, try a Behind the Scenes tour with Get Your Guide Tours. Your other options are to stand in a long line or take the stairs.
The Seine boat ride is a great way to see the city. There are docks for the Bateaux Parisiens (www.bateauxparisiens.com) at the bridge right by the ET where you can board. Advance tickets are available but probably not necessary. There are several companies that offer this type of experience.
Hope you have a great time in Paris!
