Notre-Dame

Paris & The Heart of France in 11 Day tour - itinerary reads "guide will lead a walking tour of....including Notre-Dame Cathedral and Sainte Chapelle". Does the tour include going inside these two places (assuming Notre Dame will be open by June, 2025) or are we just walking around the outside? Thank you all for your help.

Susan, a quick browse through some of this year's reviews for this trip turned up several mentions of Sainte Chapelle.

"The "wow" moment of the trip for me was walking up the spiral stars from the lower level into the upper chapel of the Sainte Chapelle cathedral. Took my breath away"

"Too many (wow moments) to pick just one: the stained glass in Sainte-Chapelle..."

"There were several (wow moments) - stained glass at Sainte-Chapelle..."

So yes, they did go inside that one this year. I haven't taken that tour but been to the chapel and it's very definitely a wow! No tours have been inside the cathedral since the fire, of course, but you could write or call the office to see about the plan for later in 2025?

I know they used to go in Notre Dame. I’m not sure that anyone knows what you’re going to be allowed to do in 2025. I can see where they might say something like groups will be oriented outside and just sent in because they’re expecting some massive crowds next year and don’t want people doing guided tours in the cathedral

From the Cathedral website-

Group tours will resume at Pentecost 2025. Groups will be able to book a reservation on a dedicated platform, guaranteeing them access at a fixed time. Reservations are free of charge, but audiophones must be rented. Groups will be able to access the cathedral from Whitsun 2025. Reservations will be possible from Easter 2025. Further information on group access will be announced in early 2025. Groups may be accompanied by a tour guide. Only professional lecturers and teachers will be allowed to speak (national lecturer’s card or current teacher’s card to be presented).

The date of Pentecost being 8 June 2025
