Hello wonderful people.
I am trying to find out where/how to pre-purchase tickets to Notre dame cathedral (or do I even need to pre-purchase).
Any advice would be appreciated,

tickets for the tower, using an app, no tickets for the main building. Fast moving queue.

As stated, the main body of the church can be visited for free. Advance reservations/tickets are necessary for the towers. Info here:

Its the long security line that you see snaking out into the courtyard.

Don’t be put off by that long security line. As somebody already said, it moves along quickly.

For the Towers you can either use the App, Out of Line (formerly JeFile) or retrieve from the machine located to the Left of the church when facing the main entrance. You can only reserve the Tower tickets the morning of, begining at 07:30. Through the App or from the machine, you select your time slot, show up about 10 minutes prior to & stand in line, then head up. The entrance to the Towers is on the Left side of the church when facing the main entracne. At the mid point of the stairs you will enter the gift shop/front desk to either show your Museum Pass or purchase the Tower tickets there.
If using the App & having your Bluetooth & WiFi on, it will ping you when it is time to get in line.
