Currently in Paris. Can confirm reservation for the Church not needed, at least on a weekday. Showed up in line Wednesday at 10:07, through security and entering at 10:13. Security scan pick up my defibrillator and my joint replacements, but no issue as I pulled my shirt collar down and pointed around my body.

Am I correct that if you plan to attend mass at Notre Dame, you enter via a separate line with no reservation needed and you can stay to walk around afterward?

Yes. If you attend mass there is a separate entrance, and you can explore the church afterward.
