Normandy weather in late September

Hi, what is the typical weather like in Normandy in late September? Is it prone to rains or showers?

Alternatively, I could try Dordogne/Languedoc/Provence instead of Normandy/Brittany. From the weather (in late September) perspective, should I favor one over the other? I will be a first time visitor to any of these regions.

We were in Brittany and Normandy last year from 11-24 Sep. We had mostly dry, pleasant weather but our tour director said we were very lucky and that usually the weather was cooler and wetter. Weather has gotten very hard to predict so you can check various weather sites for averages but that might not be your own experience.

Who knows! The climate is quite unpredictable now, currently France (and Spain and the UK) are experiencing a heatwave bringing temperatures unusually high for the time of year, some parts of Southern France are experiencing temperatures of 41 C (106 F) with Normandy averaging around 35 C. The climate in Normandy is similar to that of southern UK and late September can be damp and cool or it could be hit with an Indian Summer. It's a maritime climate so the weather is less predictable than a continental climate.

Normandy is prone to rains and showers even in the middle of summer. Languedoc/Provence have fewer rainy days - but when it rains, it pours. Dordogne is somewhere in between.

This said, in late September, you can still hope for fair days in Normandy, so I would not change plans based on weather.

I like to keep the cool, wet places (which also include Brittany and the stretch of coastal Spain between the Basque Country and Galicia) as options for summer trips. It's great to have an interesting place to include in a summer irtinerary that is highly unlikely to be suffering from a severe heat wave when you get there
