Normandy tour suggestions -- I'm having no luck

Hi all. I am having no luck securing a tour guide for June 20, 2016. We are looking for either a small group or private tour for our family of 4. I am afraid I may have left it too late. At any rate, I am looking for suggestions. I have already tried Dale Booth, DDay Historian (Paul Woodadge), Normandy 44, and Chris at Visit DDay.com, all of which I found recommended on this forum. I have out a request to Overlord, but have not heard back yet. Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

In February we booked with "Normandy Sightseeing Tours", Our guide was a young man named Adrian and one day he took us (group of 8 ) in a van -all day to the beaches of Normandy, towns in the area, all the cemeteries, etc. it was excellent.
We actually booked thru Viators (a consolidator) and they hooked us up with "Normandy Sightseeing Tours".
The second day we had the same guide and we went to Mount St. Michel - again an excellent tour.
Adrian is 30ish, but really knows his history of the areas, names, dates, events.....really an excellent guide.

(forgot to add that we stayed in Bayeux for 3 nights (traveled by train from Paris)

www.toursbylocals.com and click on the area you'll be visiting. You'll be able to see local guides and their ratings by previous customers. We've booked guides this way several times in several different countries with great success.

Sherrie,

Overlord Tour is a good possibility and hopefully they will have some spots available. Some others you could try......

I haven't used any of these firms so don't have any first-hand experience with them. As June 20 isn't far off, you'll need to get something booked soon.

Good luck!

We booked two wonderful tours with Battlebus back in 2010. Both guides are now operating their own businesses:

Jules Vernon with militarymightd-daytours.com

Sean Claxton with normandyinsight.com (tours require your own vehicle)

I used Bayeux Shuttle a few weeks ago. They have a variety of tours and you can actually see how many seats they have remaining on that particular day on their website.

I recently booked a private tour in early September with: ddaylandingtours.com with Eric Turnbull. I had many conversations with them and they also tweeked a tour for my wife in order to visit to Brecourt Manor (Band of Brothers) as well as all the other areas in the American Tour. The will also pick us up at our hotel in Bayeux. They get great reviews. If you get in tell his wife Michelle that Richard Beaumont recommended them to you. Good luck and I hope it is not too late

Sherrie,

It's great to hear that you now have a tour booked. I'm sure it will be a very interesting and memorable day for your group. I've never travelled with Overlord Tour, but have heard good things about them.

If you're staying in Bayeux, there's also a great Museum there, as well as the famous Tapestry which details a much earlier battle. Well worth seeing!

My family was there last June. I originally tried to book a tour but the ones I was interested in were too expensive to justify so I just went thru the descriptions of the various tours, read Rick notes and fashioned our own tour. I read tour notes and acted as our guide. We stayed at a small hotel on Omaha Beach, walked the beach, drove along the beach road and tried to imagine what it was like. My 17 year old grandson and one of his friends were with us. We visited both the American and German cemeteries. It was a very moving experience for all of us. We were there for about a day and a half which for us worked out fine.
