My husband and I are thinking of doing a full day tour in September. I have looked at a few tour guide websites, and they charge approximately 600Euro for a group of 1-8 people. Obviously, including the train ride there, that would be very expensive.
Does anyone know of a group/website that we could find other people wanting to share a tour? Or anyone reading this interested?? This is one of the highly rated guides we are looking at. http://dboothnormandytours.com
Thanks!
€600 does seem to be the going rate for an all-day private tour, and Dale Booth does come highly recommended. To join a cheaper, scheduled tour, see offerings from the Caen Memorial Museum, www.bayeuxshuttle.com, or www.normandy-sightseeing.com. You can also try adding your question to Travel Partners section of this forum.
I sent you a Private Message with more information about this company:

I would book quickly as private guides are in high demand. I probably contacted about 8-9 and most were unavailable for the day we wanted in September. (That was in April and we wanted someone for a Thursday in September).
I went with Overlord full day tour in Bayeux and loved it, they use a mini van and charge you individually.

Second Overlord. We did the full day American tour. Fantastic.overlordtour.com
Book in advance.
Bayeux is a great town to stay in, also.
We took a full day tour but were, as with most tours, disappointed in the amount of time we got to spend at various sites. We had rented a car, fetched at Caen, just across the street from the railroad station, and used it to return after our tour. We only got 15 minutes at the American cemetery above Omaha Beach, so we returned the next day and spent 5 hours there. You might be late to find a tour with openings but you can easily do your own with a rental car. We used AutoEurope, based in Maine, got the car at Caen and had NO hassles. We stayed at the Churchill Hotel in Bayeux, where most the the tours start. If you can't find a guide do it yourselves.
I can't thank you all enough. It's so very helpful to have people like you to help plan & answer questions for the trip of my life! Thank-you!
Another vote for Overlord -- we are not generally fans of tours but found this one quite satisfying.
Check out www.ddayhistorian.com. It use to be known as Battlebus Tours. I would suggest arriving into the Normandy area the day before. Not including train travel as part of your tour. We took the train from Paris independently the day before our tour. It's a wonderful tour!
Ended up booking the Overlord tour. Thank You again for all your help!
