Normandy Dining on a Sunday?

I'll be driving a rental car from Paris to Normandy on a Sunday in September.

Could someone tell me what to expect once we arrive in Normandy (Caen/Bayeaux region) in terms of dining options? Will some restaurants be open? Some of the larger supermarkets appear to be open at least until midday, so I don't think we'll starve once we get there. :-)

Of the six Bayeux restaurants listed in Rick's France book, half are closed on Sunday evening. I'd guess that's a pretty standard percentage at other places in the town and around France.

In my experience, it's considerably more than half, but all but the smallest towns will have at least one place to eat open.

Laura & Phillip:

Thanks for your replies.

Glad to know that we should be able to have lunch or dinner someplace when we arrive.

To be safe, I'd book a table in advance. Because there will be plenty of tourists, but fewer restaurants open, you might find it hard to get a table that evening. I greatly enjoyed eating at Le Pommier near the Cathedral. It's open on Sundays and in Rick's book.
