Normandy DDay Tour then need fast train to Avignon...

Which city should I overnight in?.....Right now I am overnighting in Rouen and to catch a TGV fast train to Avignon. I have searched and searched and cannot find any conversations on this routing question. I appreciate any guidance!! We plan to depart first train from Paris St. Lazare and arrive Bayeaux at 9:15am. Meet with a private guide to do DDay tour. Then have them drop us in Rouen overnight so we catch a TGC fast train to Avignon the next day. Any help with what Im doing here would be greatly appreciated!!!

The TGV to Avignon leaves only from Paris Gare de Lyon.

You can take the Meto Line 14 from Paris St Lazare to Gare de Lyon for 2 euros

Thanks so much...but we are not coming back to Paris after the tour. We are planning on spending the night somewhere in Normandy...the reason we chose Rouen is because I 'think' there is a TGV fast train from there directly to Avignon. Is there something tricky I am missing?

Thanks again,
Michelle

Although I found no TGVs out of Rouen when I looked at a random date next week on the Deutsche Bahn website, when I switched to SNCF and used a (randomly-chosen) date of Wednesday, April 10, bingo! I see an 8:45 AM departure from Rouen that arrives in Avignon at 1:46 PM.

It's important to check your specific travel date on the SNCF website to see whether that train or a similar one will be available when you need it. All the other routings to Avignon on April 10 require a change of trains and train stations in Paris. Most involve an Intercites train between Rouen and Paris-St-Lazare and a TGV from Paris-Gare de Lyon to Avignon.

Yep acraven is correct; there is a TGV Direct from Rouen on April 10
Hopefully there is one on your specific date and time. Moreover it looks like it there is one a day from Rouen leaving at 8:45

All, thanks so much for your help. I will continue to check the SNCF website. I was going to do my ticket purchasing on Trainline.eu as I heard it's better because we can print our tickets at home. If someone has a better idea let me know...thanks so much this forum sis being so helpful.

Best,
Michelle

I'd have no hesitancy about using trainline.eu myself; lots of people on the forum have done so.

I am pretty sure you can print those tickets out on either site.
But no doubt the trainline is more user friendly
The prices are the same, so.
