Contemplating a trip to England and France in the Spring to see WWII sites. Recommendation on good educational tours of the D-Day sites and best time to go? Thinking April or May (just not around Memorial Day).
Merci!

We've been to Normandy in April and September, both were fine, although there was more rain in September.
I, and many others, will recommend Overlord tours. On our most recent trip, we took a day tour of British and Canadian highlights, which was very educational for us.
Ironically, I did not have a very good experience with Overlord. It is a larger company with multiple guides, and your experience will depend on your guide. Our guide seemed to think her job was to provide transportation to the sites and gave us very little information. (We had a car, took the tour for the educational aspects) There were 2 other couples on the tour who were equally unhappy. At the American cemetery, we all eavesdropped on another Overlord tour just to hear some of the details. (Our guide was not feeling well that day, so that could have contributed to the problem. She spent a lot of time sitting in the van). When we went back two years later (2014), I used this company:

The web site is being updated during the off season, but you can e-mail them for information about their tours.
I can't say enough good things about them. Of course, that was awhile ago. However, I have recommended them to other people since then and they always reported being very happy with the tour.
My positive experience with Overlord was in 2019.
We are going in April and can only spend a day we booked with Blue Fox Travel it came highly recommended.
I took a tour with Overlord after my original company canceled on me the day before the tour. This was last fall.
After taking the tour with Overlord, I'm glad the original company canceled. It was one of the best one day tours I've ever taken.
I used Overlord for a 1/2 day tour in 2019 and it was a fantastic experience. My wife and 16-yr son also loved it. Very engaging, educational, solemn (when appropriate), and unrushed. The young-ish tour guide (perhaps late 20's) was extremely passionate about WWII history, knowledgeable, and a great storyteller. Definitely recommend.
