Any recommendations on a tour company for tours to the D-Day beaches. Would like a group of ten or less people. We are staying in Bayeux.
normandy44-tours.com. I believe that is their website. If you Google Normandy 44 tours they come up. We used them in 2014 for a private tour for 4 people. It ended up being cheaper than some of the large bus tours. I realize that 2014 was 10 years ago, but it looks like they still get great reviews. I've recommended them to others on this forum and heard back race reviews.
I had one of the best day tours of my travel life with them. Others on this board will probably chime in on them as well.
They came to my rescue when another tour company cancelled on me the day before a scheduled tour.
If you use the search bar at the top of the page, or by clicking on the menu symbol if using a phone, you will find a multitude of threads on this very topic.
We used HQCompany tours and it was the very best experience we have had. Picked us up promptly at our B&B in Bayeau promptly at nine and returned about five thirty. Booked private tour for just the two of us. They have tours up to ten I think. Anyway it was a splurge but would definitely repeat it. They also.get excellent reviews on Tripadvisor.
We just took a DDay Overlord Tour in April. We highly recommend it. There was max capacity of 7 people for our tour. We had scheduled/reserved a full day tour, and the day prior, my husband injured his foot, so we were concerned about it being too much for him, so they accommodated us for a half day tour. They also put a wheelchair in the back of the van for him, just in case. In reality, the wheelchair only would have worked at the American Cemetery, but my point is, they were very helpful.
Adding to the Overlord Tours recommendations -- our full day tour with them was fantastic, truly a highlight of the trip. Guide Oliver was amazing.
We will be there in early September. I have heard good things about Overlord tours. My question: Half day or full day? And if full day, which tour?
Another recommendation for HQCompany.
We had a full day private tour for our group of 5.
Our guide Yannick was knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of his way to make our tour special.
You really need at least a full day. More if you can find the time in your itinerary.
Stick to full-day tours. Although most D-Day tours begin and end in Bayeux, the invasion sites visited by the tours are not in Bayeux. It takes time to drive to the area covered as well as to move from one site to the next. On a half-day tour, far too much of your time would necessarily be spent moving from place to place.
