Joining a RS tour in France but would like to visit Normandy before. Would LOVE a fabulous private tour of Normandy. Can you recommend a fabulous private guide? I would love to learn about WWII?
Rick's book lists several private guides and tours. We took a small group tour (8 plus driver/guide) with Normandy Sightseeing Tours and enjoyed it very much. Price was Euro 130 per person. A private tour would cost much much more.
Dale Booth is an absolutely fabulous private guide. He books up quickly, though, so plan your trip around his availability. We did, and had a terrific two-day tour of the American beaches.
Perfect! Do you have his contact info?
I'd like to recommend Adrienne O'Donoghue..she owns & operates Albion Voyages..dedicated to organizing historian led private DDAY tours. Contact info: [email protected]
She responds to emails very quickly...and is able to work with any specific requests for more time at a certain location or a specific emphasis during the tour. I had very specific requests for Pointe du Hoc (General James Earl Rudder is a former student and former president of our university). She knew exactly what I requested and even added suggestions and information.
If she is booked..she will offer other recommendations and also let you know if she has any cancellations.
Bertrand Saundrais also gets great reviews on the Forum. Our day with him was superb.

Another vote for Dale Booth--he was spectacular! And it you are looking for a place to stay, he and his wife run a great B & B
