Any great experiences you could recommend for 3-4 night lodging to see Normandy and pay respects?
Well, we are booked into the Lion d'Or in July, so hoping.......
Lately I stay at Valentine B&B in Sainte-Mère-Église. A wonderful couple runs this great business and is deeply involved in the local ceremonies and associations related to the U.S. involvement. I think the wife works at the local town hall. I can't recommend them highly enough. For many years I stayed at a B&B right on the square at 15 Rue Général Koenig, across from the church—which was ideal. But they have changed hands and I know nothing about the new owners. My first trip (17 years ago) I stayed at Ferme du Clos Neuf in Ryes. I think this has fallen off of the RS guide book, which is how I found it, but it is close to Bayeux and Arromanches on a wonderful, rural farm. At the time, what appeared to be tenant farmers ran the operation—but gain, I have no recent knowledge. Finally, I once stayed at Ferme de Riou in SME. But again, that was 15 years ago. There are likely many places around Bayeux, which is more central. But SME really celebrates the U.S. paratroop involvement on D-day.
We stayed at Villa Aggarthi in Bayeau a wonderful place. We were there for three days 9/23 and my son and wife were there three weeks ago and felt the same as us. It is only block away from the tapestry has fresh eggs from her own hens on site and parking which is a blessing there.
Wonderful Navy & Co. in Houesville, run by Brit husband & wife naval officers! Their place is lovely with the most sumptuous breakfasts. Chris offers D Day tours & we booked him for a full day tour that was marvelous. He also made great suggestions for our other days. He is affiliated with the D Day Museum (now Smithsonian WWII Museum) in New Orleans. Can’t say enough good things about our experience.

Double and triple the recommendation for Chris and Navy & Co. Love him!
ETA: He's a retired Royal Marine. He might take offense as being called Navy, lol.
