Normandy area to see D day beaches

Hello:

We are going to be in Paris for a week in early March. Our trip to see the D day beaches in the fall was cancelled due to family illness. we are now thinking we can take the train to Bayeux from Paris in early March and do some of the things we had hoped to do. Does anyone know if any of the tour operators are running in early March? Overlord or HQ? Could we hire a private tour driver? Also when do they start up the tours? I looked online and it looked like mid April for HQ. I am not sure we will get as much out of the area without a tour. Any suggestions or ideas. We have been to Paris before several times so are not too worried about not having much time there. Thank you.

We used Dale Booth, outstanding, and Overlord tours and both did a great job. Both will ask you your preference as to the type of tour you want and will cater it to what you want. Bayeux is a lovely town with a beautiful cathedral and its streets are quaint and charming. Make certain you visit the British cemetery there along with the German one outside of town to see the difference in these two and the American cemetery. The Brits were allowed to personalize their graves and walking among them, filled with messages and flowers planted at each site, was an education in itself.

Four of us took a tour of Normandy with Overlord last spring and had an amazing experience

Although I have never personally taken a tour, I have never heard of anything but praise for any tour guides used. I have also met quite a few and can say they are all very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about both the Battle of Normandy and the area in general. In short, I don't think you can go wrong.

I agree. We had a great experience with Overlord Tours last October but they also agreed Gold Beach Tours is a good company as well. Overlord runs tours year round but pay attention to length of day/daylight.
