Normandy area options?

We are traveling to Bretagne for a wedding this weekend & Normandie for a few days after. Due to lots of things, we sadly haven't made official plans yet (ie, scheduled anything!) other than where we are staying.

We plan to visit Mont St. Michel on the drive from Moncontour to Bayeux on Monday. Doing a Normandy/D-Day tour and exploring Bayeux &/or other towns in the area would be how we think we will spend Tues & Wed, heading to Paris on Thurs for flight home on Fri. Would love some tips on where to find a good D-Day tour that covers more than just Omaha Beach (there are a lot to choose from - any tips on what to look for? Or where the best ones have been found?), what to do in Bayeux (Sadly, just learned that the Tapestry is already in London), and/or what other towns we might want to explore if time allows. We will have a car. Thanks for any tips you have!

I hope you already have your accommodations arranged, because this area of Normandy is usually very crowded in summer. Ditto the availability of tours that explore the DDay landings. You can try Overlord Tours and Dale Booth. I can't guarantee that either would still have openings on your dates.

Try HQCompany tours also we have used them three times and very pleased with it.

If you cannot find a tour you like, after a visit in September I found that self-guiding was really feasible given the high quality of the museums and memorials in the area. The American cemetery in Colleville has an excellent museum which would be a good place to start, after which you can explore Omaha Beach itself, Pointe du Hoc, and perhaps continue to the museum at Utah Beach (I haven't been). The German cemetery at La Cambe is a very interesting side trip as well; it is right next to the expressway so it is easy to stop by even if just for 30 minutes (or maybe 45 if you want a look around the small museum).

We are having our first visit to Normandy in October and will also have a car.

We are spending three nights in Bayeux, and are very disappointed about the tapestry, however, we did know that it wouldn't be there.

I put my ideas for a D-Day beaches tour into Chat GPT and was very impressed with the itinerary it came up with.

Bearing in mind we are Australian, so not quite so interested in the US places, there are still things we wish to see and I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently I had an itinerary that I could work with.
