Normandy and beyond

I will be traveling from Paris to Bayeux.Staying in Bayeux for several days before heading to Bastogne. After a few more days in Bastogne I will leaving for Munich for Octoberfest. I would appreciate tips on the best ways to travel from city to city in the most direct route to each location. Any advice on tours of Bastogne battlefields also. Everything I see is a private tour and very expensive. Thank you

You might want to peruse some Battlefield guides about Bastogne. I’ve covered most of the perimeter held by the 101st Abn and other units and it likely would take two days to walk it over fairly well marked routes. . That I know of there are no regular group tours and in any event battle tours are usually pricey but often worth it.

You’ll have a full day of travel by train and bus to get to Bastogne (by way of Paris and Brussels) and a long day of bus and train travel to get to Munich. Do not go to Oktoberfest with out reservations in or near the city.

Look at “The Man in Seat 61” website for guidance getting across France, Belgium and Germany. In the end you have a lot of travel facing you

Not sure if you were specifically asking about transportation to Munich/Bastogne, but we took the train from Paris to Bayeux + found it to be really easy.

If you're already not set up with a D-Day tour in Normandy, I can't recommend the Gold Beach Tour Company enough. Our guide Alex was incredibly knowledgeable on all things the invasion, and specifically touched on as many 101st Airborne sites as he could.

Have never been to Bastogne so can't speak for the rest but hope you enjoy.

Were you able to find a train from the airport or was it from a station in Paris? If it was in Paris do you know which station you used? Did the train stop specifically in Bayeux? We have a tour already booked for all of the beaches but appreciate the recommendation. Did you rent a car while in Bayeux?

There is no train from CDG to Bayeux. You have to use (and get to) the Gare Saint-Lazare station. The best two options to get there in my opinion are either a flat-rate taxi (€65 for up to four people from the official taxi line), or the RoissyBus (€16.60 per person, leaves outside of arrivals and brings you to Opera Garnier, which is a 7-minute walk).
