Does anyone have any hotel and restaurant recommendations in Normandy. Thinking of going this fall
Normandy is a large region in France. Are you thinking of any particular towns in Normandy which you are planning to visit? We recently stayed in Bayeux and Rouen and took day trips from those locations as well.
We will be in Bayeux and Mont St Michel
We stayed in Pontorson for one night at the Best Western Pontorson/Hotel Montgomery, prior to our visit to MSM the next day. It was built in the 1300's so not your typical BW. It was sufficient for 1 night. (We'd arrived from Paris via train to Rennes. Then picked up our rental car there.)
For Bayeux we stayed in an Airbnb right in the heart of town, but researched and have read many positive reports about Hotel Lion d'or, Hotel Mathilde, Villa Laura, Le Petit Matin (sold out for the dates we wanted) and Hotel A'goures.
I'm sure many others will give great suggestions as well. I loved staying right in the center of town, and our Airbnb had a reserved parking space. If you plan on having a car rental, double check that your accommodations include parking. Because parking in the center of town is fairly impossible.
We stayed at Hotel Mathilde in Bayeux, end of September 2023. We liked the location and breakfast. Our room was above the restaurant but I would have preferred a room away from the hustle bustle if we were staying longer. They do have an annex with rooms extremely close by which could be quieter. We did not see any of those rooms.
Bayeux is a charming beautiful town!
Not a hotel per se, but we are staying in an Airbnb in Longues-sur-mer, which is just outside Bayeux. In terms of restaurants, we're planning to dine at Le Moulin de la Galette and Le Pommier, both in Bayeux. We'll be in Normandy June 14-17.
Auberge Des Monts is very good in Ryes
My in-laws have eaten at Le Rapier in Bayeux and said it was very fancy and delicious. Reservations required and often booked way out in advance from what I hear.
