What is the best way to go from Bayeux to St.Malo without a rental car?

Hi,
The train takes a fair while but there are at least 2 connections per day with one change in Dol de Bretagne. No bookings needed. Takes about 3.5 hours which is staggering given the short distance, but I don't see how to do better (for buses you'd have to backtrack to Caen).

I'm doing the same thing in September! The schedules for September aren't available yet, but currently there is a train that leaves Bayeux as 12:30, arrives in Dol de Bretagne at 14:56; change trains and leave Dol de Bretagne at 15:16 and arrive in Saint-Malo at 15:32. 3 hours, 2 minutes travel time with only one change.
