Suggestions for day trip form Paris. Train, plane, private driver and guide?
dsabol,
To make Normandy (I assume you mean the DDay beaches area and WWII sights) a one day trip would entail the greater part of the day spent in traveling to and from the area. If you do a search about this on the forum you will find lots of suggestions about this option. Day tours from Paris are available, but IMO it would be best to stay overnight in Bayeux for one night at least. Train to Bayeux, have half of a day for sights there...cathedral, tapestry, museum, etc...and a full day beaches tour next day, then train back to Paris on a late afternoon train.
If you are not going to the DDay sights, Rouen is a great city to visit in Normandy, and could be a day trip by train, still entailing more travel time than I find optional for a one day.
Check out the threads on this forum for ideas and suggestions and bonne chance!
p.s. No planes available, and driver and guide for the whole day (and distance) would be very pricy. It is 172 miles between Paris and Bayeux, the best jumping off point for DDay sights.
