Non Smoking Hotel Rooms in Paris

How hard is it to find a moderately priced, non smoking hotel room in Paris? Specifically the Rue Cler area. My husband and son both have allergies and can't stay in a room that smells like smoke.

since you also have a family of 4, the other thread you said you are following, I'll ask the same question to you because without the answer any reply here might well be wasted - what does "moderately priced" mean to you? Preferably in Euro but if you tell us your currency we can usually work from that.

What time of the year?

Hotels are non smoking. If you have a room over a bar or entrance or kitchen entrance you may get smoke coming up from there especially if your windows are open.

All Paris hotels are non smoking. Rue Cler is not very central and not the best area IMHO for a first visit. To get advice on hotels, you need to give a price you are willing to pay. A favorite hotel of ours is Henri IV Rive Gauche which I know has at least one 3 person room. Near the Seine, Shakespeare and CO and Notre Dame.

Well, while others will tell you that Rue Cler is not where you should stay, I love it, and it’s where I stay every time I go. And I’ve never had a hotel room in any of the hotels in that area that was smoking.

So if it’s where you want to stay, don’t worry about the naysayers. Stay where you want to stay - if you’re only staying there because someone else told you to, Make sure it’s where you want to stay.

Vote #2 for Carol’s reply. And will add there are about 6-8 hotels in the Rue Cler area that I’ve rotated through in the last 8 years and have never smelled smoke in any of them. It, too, is my go-to neighborhood.

In fact in all that time I’ve only smelled smoke in one European hotel room. That was last year in a cute canalside hotel room in Ghent where my room was on the top floor and the folks next door were hanging out of their window smoking and it was drifting in. I addressed the issue with the front desk immediately and it was taken care of.

This is not a concern.

Ask for non-smoking room when you book. They will honor that.

Ditto what Carol and Pam said. We love Rue Cler. Especially because of it's proximity to restaurants, the tower so we can sit out on the lawn with a bottle of wine and watch the tower twinkle at night, and easy walk to the 8th and the river. We typically stay at the Relais Bosquet (a favorite on this forum for many), and a more simple but less expensive Hotel Beaugency. We have tried Hotel Jardins d'Eiffel which was ok, and Hotel Duquesne. We much prefer Relais Bosquet over all of these, but the Beaugency was a decent second. We never smelled smoke in the hotel rooms.

Hotels are required to be non-smoking, as are all public buildings and restaurants.

We stayed at the Hotel de Buci in Paris, and it is a gem. Fantastic location, solid air conditioning, and it was two rooms that worked with two boys. Wonderful breakfast. Very reasonably priced.
