Non CDC Card Vax Proof Accepted For Entry to France? Have Official State Printout

Hi All, husband and I are headed to Paris in June. We both have two vaccines plus boosters and have the California State vaccine info printout from the State Health Dept website as well as photos of it in our phones. It lists all the details of the vaccines same as the CDC card, and it has a QR code which is not readable outside of the US.

Asking because my husband lost his white CDC card for his first two vaccines. His booster shot did give him another white CDC card and it says "3rd" on the booster info to show it's the 3rd vaccine but it has no info about the first two.

The State cannot replace these cards, which is crazy but that's the case. Instead you go to their website and print out your official record.

Has anyone been able to use a State vaccine proof instead of a CDC card to enter France? I called our airline (United) and they said it would be accepted and also checked with a supervisor who agreed, but I would rather have answers from persons who have first hand experience or know of someone who did.
Again this is for entry to France; I do not think the Pass Vaccinale will be needed by June (that would require a pharmacist to approve which might be iffy I am guessing).

I have my original card so I am OK re that.

Thank you!

I find it odd that they would not replace it. In our state, you can pretty much request a new card on demand, I had to fill out mine myself, and even have a second card. I know they try to limit access to cards, but it is just a paper form, my wife's first card was a photocopy of a blank card on regular copy paper.

As for your dilemma, it would be best to have a card, as that is what people are used to seeing, but the record should work, in that it has all required (maybe more) information. If you dig down into what other countries consider proof of vaccination to be, it is a list of items like dates, vaccine type, lot#, who gave it to you, etc., nowhere does it say that for the US it must be a CDC card.

To ease your concerns, check with your airline. If vaccination is an entry requirement, then they are the ones that have to check it.

If United said it’s accepted, then it should be. You are certainly not the first to use state records.

Another person on this Forum did use his State vaccine records for a Pass sanitaire in January or February, so he had no problem with a pharmacist.

For entering France, the only answer that counts, comes from your air carrier. They decide. If they make an error, the airline pays sizable fines. Air carriers are very careful.

For a pass vaccinal, the only decision that counts is a pharmacist's. A French pharmacist sees foreign documentation from travels from around the world, it's more complex than just CDC cards. Pharmacists are well-educated, likely speak English well, and should have no problem understanding your documentation from the state of California, assuming the pass vaccinal is still in use by June.

Oh my goodness this is the news I have been waiting for. Will make our trip next month easier not to have those added steps!

Can you go to the location where he received his first two vaccines and ask them for a duplicate card? When my husband and I go our boosters I scheduled the appointment for the same location we got the first two. I asked the person administering the shots if we could get duplicate cards in case we lose the originals. She happily provided them.

In France, Prime Minister Jean Castex has just announced this Thursday the end of wearing a mask in almost all places and the end of the vaccination pass (Health Pass) from Monday March 14.
Except in collective passenger transport (including planes and trains) and health establishments

Technically, no state can replace a CDC card because ... the CDC is a federal agency. I flash my California QR code all the time with no problem, well in LA anyway, while it may not be scannable you can certainly show it to the scanner and it will show all your shots.
