Noise in Nice? Staying along the Promenade des Anglais

I'm already excited about taking my (elderly, but don't tell her I said so) Mom to southern France next summer. I am looking at apartments along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, since she loves watching the ocean and needs a building with an elevator.

While researching beach clubs to make sure we can rent sunbeds and an umbrella near the apartment, I noticed one location says that their music is kept at a "chill" level until midnight -- indicating that after midnight is when they kick into full gear and the party gets started. Uh-oh! I'm all for having a good time on holiday, but now I'm concerned that the Promenade des Anglais may not be the place for us.

Any insight on the noise level along the beach in Nice? I was already concerned about being on a busy road, and if there is music until the wee hours of the morning that might be a deal breaker. Any other ideas for where we should stay? Ocean view and very few stairs are the main factors.

Thanks!

We have always stayed a block back from the beach to avoid this. Look to the western part of the beach, near Hotel Negresco.

It's a lovely road, and we were there in September of 2015 and didn't notice it being particularly noisy. We were upstairs from a restaurant with easy access through a secure entryway and within walking distance of a very well supplied supermarket and a laundromat. We found our apartment on VRBO--can't recall the name or VRBO number--and were thrilled to spend only $250 for a two bedroom, two bath apartment with gorgeous view. I know we were west of the Hotel Le Negresco, so we weren't that close to the old town, maybe a 20 minute walk.

Which beach club was this? Most if not all close down in the evening some time, at least by midnight. The street can be noisy, especially on the Promenade with its traffic. The key is to ensure the apartment has air conditioning and modern double glazed windows (and for further noise insulation, metal roler blinds also help). And, get an upper floor. As noted, you'll want to focus on the area from the Old Town to about Blvd Gambetta (or even the Negresco). Any further and your walk will be excessive, even with the tram running to the center. Consider a block in as well -- some will have partial or full sea views, but from an angle. (I can see the sea from my corner terrace, about 1 1/2 blocks off). Look to multiple booking sites and the major private agencies in Nice -- things are not often cross posted. If you do end up further west on the Promenade, make sure you are near a tram stop on Line 2 that will take you all the way to the center and the port.
