Hi all, followed the link off RS website to purchase over 60 discount cards for rail. Easy peasy till I got to drop down for home country (after putting in my Seattle address) and there was no listing for U.S. Am I missing something???
Just select the "Other Countries" option and proceed from there. It's delivered by email so the physical address entered is probably only for record keeping (data collection) purposes and to validate the card being used to pay.
Yes, they even list Antarctic as a valid country.
That's been happening to me a bit with automated forms for lodging and other venues for France and Spain. I've thought U.S. wasn't in the the list you scroll through, but the problem was it didn't appear where I thought it would (like "U"). I scrolled thru more slowly and have found it. Maybe that's your problem? I hope this makes sense.
I went through the whole list very slowly and could not find it. My first thought, USA is Etats Unis d'Amerique in French, so maybe it was there as EUA, but no dice. Or maybe they want you to buy it through Rail Europe, which they own, but no info there either.
I made a test purchase and all went well up to the credit card information. Just leave the country as is - France.
However, are you sure you really need a Carte Senior? The discounts are upon the max price. You really need to be doing a lot of travel at the last minute to make this worth the purchase. Buying tickets 90 days in advance from oui.sncf is the cheapest way to travel by rail that I have found.
