I am glad I was able to visit last month, two days prior to the closing of their excellent exhibition on surrealism. I also enjoyed their permanent collection and look forward to going again in 5 years.

I hope part of the restoration includes cleaning the windows - when we were last there those windows were so scratched one couldn't see the views from the top floor...

Five years is the time allotment that President Macron had set for the restoration of Notre Dame, which was indeed viewed at the outset as extremely daunting if not possible. Still, the restoration was accomplished within 5 years.

Luckily, I visited the Pompidou Center in the first decade of the 21st century. Always sites in Paris to visit and revisit.

We'll be in Paris starting on Sept 28th. I've read that the Pompidou will be closing late Sept but can't find a date. We'd plan to visit the museum early in our stay if it is still opened. Has anyone seen a specific date for the closing?

I guess I was lucky to see it just a couple of years after it opened - it was still pretty new when I was there in 1980. I saw a Picasso exhibit and a Salvador Dali exhibit. Since I was only 17 years old, I was a little overwhelmed by it all!

And then to close the loop, the last time I saw it was 2022, not too long before they closed it for renovation. The first time we walked right in, the last time I stood in the pouring rain for nearly an hour just to get in the door. (Things have changed a lot in Paris in the past 40-odd years!)

According to Le Monde the museum will close starting 22 September 2025:
