No more health pass/vaccine pass needed for France

As of today, the government is no longer requiring the health pass/ vaccine pass / EU Digital Certificate to enter restaurants, bars, cafés, museums, etc, nor to take long-distance trains, or flights.

In addition, you are not required to wear masks indoors, except for on public transportation, where they remain required.

I thought we had a post on this, but couldn't find anything, so I thought it would be useful. Sorry if this is duplicate information.

Great news! Now we just need USA to drop reentry testing requirement and airline mask mandates. After over 2 years of Covid it should be clear that each person has a different risk profile and fear level so Covid precautions should be managed by each person, not by government edict.

Thanks Kim for posting. We are in the airport now awaiting our flight to Atlanta, then from Atlanta to Paris! Not starting out well.. our flight to Atlanta is delayed a little over an hour.🙄.
I was glad to see that the Health pass requirement has been suspended.. .
Thanks for sharing..

Just got home from a busy mall and supermarket in a southern city in France. We walked, didn't take public transportation. About 5% were masked.
The virus is going through the schools right now, so use your own judgement. My husband and I are staying masked during inside activites. But like most everyone, we are unmasked walking outside.

In addition, regrettably, now unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people can come to France if they have a negative test,

Thank you Kim for the update. I'd thought this was going to happen but glad to have the local scoop.

This is excellent news. And of course all over French news they talk about a new wave. It will be awesome being able to unmask in stuffy museums. That was a killer last summer which didn't make me stay long.

Kim, I agree with you based on our recent personal experience with Covid. I think France is making a big mistake. Time will tell.

Thanks for the update. I hope they continue to require masks on public transportation. We will continue to wear masks in situations where we are in close contact with others. I wonder how many people who thought they weren’t at risk from Covid so they didn’t take precautions became severely ill or died from it? Either way, getting sick on vacation is not my idea of a good time.

Thanks for the update Kim.
I have been wondering about any vaccine pass requirement on long distance trains, and you answered my question.
I fly out to Paris tomorrow and I will continue to mask in most situations.
I'd rather not get sick...

Yes, masks are still required on public transport.

James -- for those fully vaccinated (this includes an mRNA booster, which is mandatory) -- you don't need anything but proof of vaccination.

If you are not fully vaccinated by the French definition (or if you are just plain unvaccinated), you have to have a negative PCR test that is taken within the 72 hours prior to your departure from France, or an antigen test within the 48 hours prior to your departure.

Basically anyone can come.

Thanks Kim!
I agree with everything Aimee said.
I’m not happy about this, and i too wish only the un or under vaxxed could get Covid.

Great to know, and agree regarding the unvaccinated. We are triple vaxxed and still managed to get covid recently, although mild, still had to quarantine.

I am assuming since we are flying Air France that we won't need to do anything other than show up for our flight with our CDC cards.
Thinking the only test we need to do is upon leaving France back to the US the 24-hrs. before flight time. So if our flight leaves Paris at 9:30 am we should take the test sometime after 10:00 AM the day before?

JR: The test to return to the US just has to be the day before, not strictly within 24 hours. So no need to wait til after 10 a.m. (Our flight home is 6:20 p.m. on a Saturday but we are getting our tests done first thing Friday morning. Get that over with.)

I leave in a week and a half - my approach is to make sure we bring everything we need, and prepare for the worst case scenario. Covid cases in Europe are surging right now, and who knows how that might affect changes in policy. We are cautiously excited but understand things can affect our plans and details (C&P - Covid and Putin).

I leave tomorrow. Don't forget that the EU Digital Passenger Locator form is also required when going to the EU. I filled mine out online and made a printout.

Highly recommend the use of the VeriFLY app. Will really streamline your process at the airport both outgoing from the US and at CDG on the return flight.
