We are thinking of taking the overnight train from Toulouse to Paris next July. I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to do, or if it is too noisy to really get any sleep? Would appreciate any advice...Thanks!

It's a bit early to make a definite decision for the night train, just in case schedules change in December. That night train has reclining seats or 6-passenger couchettes in 2nd class and 4-passenger couchettes in 1st class, no private doubles. The flat bunk bed should be the same as on any night train. You can lock the compartment once everyone is in. Where noise usually comes from is train brakes, trains connecting and disconnecting, rattling around, or whistles. I usually sleep a few hours on a night train, but not as well as in a hotel.
Thank you very much for this info - we will be travelling with a Saverpass 1st class (we are three), so will probably try to get a couchette for 4 ppl. I am concerned about your comment re schedules - are you saying that they might not schedule a night train at all?
Please advise!
Thanks!

City Night Line has been cutting back on its night trains, so no telling what will happen in France a year from now. You will not be sure until the Summer 2015 schedules come out in March or April next year.
Hi Sam,
Thank you very much - good to know!
