Night time ideas

Bonjour! Suggestions on a night time Cruise, no meal needed. We will be in Paris the end of this month. We defiantly want to see the Effiel Tower at sunset and cruise. Would a combo tour for the Eiffel Tower and cruise be best?

Merci,

My favorite is the simple Vedettes du Pont Neuf. You can get a discount by buying tickets on their website (any date, any time tickets). You will get views of the Eiffel Tower on the cruise. The best place to see the Eiffel Tower is from the Trocadero balcony, best reached by metro.

Another great place to see Paris including the Eiffel Tower is to ride the elevator to the top of the Montparnasse Tower. Spectacular !!!

We did the cruise too - From the base of the Eiffel Tower we walked across the street and down the steps to the river. There are a couple of River Cruise companies right there and you buy your ticket out of a machine.
We had to wait about 20 - 30 minutes for your boat - but sat on the benches of the top deck and the lights and city were wonderful.

I like the Vedettes Pont Neuf at night. I also liked visiting the Arc de Triomphe at night, at the top of the hour you can watch the Eiffel Tower light up. The view from the Arc is really good.

This one requires no planning. Just pick a time you want to go and head for the dock nearest where you are. Tickets are easily obtained walking up and if the boat is full there will be another one within the half hour. there are docks at the Eiffel Tower, at Pont Neuf and upstream from Pont d'Alma on the right bank. It is all pretty much the same.

Bateaux Parisien, recommended by RSE book. I was on it July 2. From the Eiffel Tour, as you go down a lot of steps to the Seine to the cement dock area, keep walking farther from the steps you went down, away from all the crowds getting tickets at the first set of kiosks, and you will come to another place to buy a ticket for a different cruise boat, Bateaux Parisien. (It's not far down the dock, the dock is not that long or confusing, just don't assume it's the first set of crowded kiosks.) It was just a cruise, no dinner; takes an hour or so and it leaves when boat is full, we waited 15 min max on the boat; sit on top, it's fantastic! It was $17, and the dollar is just a bit weaker now, so it should cost around $17.50 USD. Of course, you will pay in Euros or credit card.
