We're planning on going to Versailles on Saturday, Aug 10th so we can see the night fountain show. I thought we needed a ticket to the evening musical fontain show but I read that if you get the Passport ticket, it says it includes the musical fountains/gardens. Do I still need the eveniing fountain show ticket (the show is at 9.00)? Do I need both tickest? How have others managed the time given the palace closes at 6.30? How much time should we plan to spend there? I believe we could go into town and return for the Night Fountain show since we could have a separate ticket but am not sure. I appreciate all suggestions and tips. Thank you!

We did this several years ago and really enjoyed it! I don't recall exactly how the tickets were structured, but I seem to remember it was fairly clear on the website.
We arrived for our tour of the chateau about 2 hours before closing and that was sufficient for us. It was very crowded and hot inside, but well worth the trouble if you haven't seen it before. We left at closing time and had a leisurely dinner on the street that runs beside the chateau (right side as you're facing the main entrance). Then we returned before the official "show time" and wandered around the gardens to see them before dark. Wishing you a wonderful time!

No advice on this, other than August 10th this year is a Sunday, so make sure to buy your tickets for the correct date. My travel plans in Paris are in similar time frame so that caught my eye. Best of luck.

Be sure not to get inflated expectations of the 'fountain show' -- it is not vegas with dancing fountains -- it is basically the fountains running while music plays on little speakers in the bushes. It is pleasant -- a friend and I went to a musical fountains afternoon this spring after doing the VR experience and it was enjoyable, but 'show' sort of overstates what to expect.
