Nice vs Menton

Will be in both places in November for 3 nights each. What are the best surrounding places to visit (no car) from each of these respectively ?

I think staying in each is a bad idea. Why not stay somewhere in between or just Nice the entire time? Menton is on the terminal end of the French Riviera and is good for a day trip but no more. All the major touristic sites are within a stones throw from Nice on the train.

There's thousands of videos and information about this area all parroting the same places to visit so I will let you find them. But I will say Antibes had the best atmosphere/vibe out of all the towns I visited. Also, people like to visit Saint Paul de Vence and though it is in a lovely setting I found it way too commercialized in comparison to other "Les Plus Beaux Villages" of France.

Menton has some day trips on bus lines that run into the villages in the backcountry, and you can take a train/bus to access the Italian bus/train system. Otherwise it can be inconvenient to be at one end of the Cote d'Azur.

Just be away that the weather can be unsettled in November (unpredictable) and that you will face much more seasonality in Menton in November (can be very shuttered). You may have more options in Nice in inclement weather and things won't be quiet so empty.
