Flying into Nice from Madrid and planning to spend 8 days in driving through France and flying back from Paris to Madrid. Wife and I want to rent a car in Nice and drive to Paris.. Any advise or places to see on the way? I was thinking aix, avignon, cote' du rhone region.. loire valley.. please help! thank you!

Coming from Nice, I think the places you mentioned are good except for the Loire. You could certainly do that but logistically it might be easier to head up through Burgundy (Beaune area) to Reims, drop the car and train to Paris so you can avoid driving any where near Paris. If you wanted to do the Loire, then I would keep going west towards Sarlat, north through the Dordogne and Loire. Both options are good
Pick up a good guidebook for more on what to see and do in these areas. I hope this helps some.
