I'm taking the My Way France Tour in May 2016. It ends in Nice and I need to get to NYC. However, checking flights from Nice to JFK, the fare is over $2000!!! I I am getting a RT from NY to Paris. What is the best way to get from Nice to CDG. The flights to NY are around 2pm. I would prefer not to stay overnight in Paris. Any suggestions? What regional airlines are reliable? Thanks!!
Easy Jet seems to be a budget option with several flights per day. Check skyscanner.com for other options. When you decide to book go to the airline's actual website, book early for best prices and be aware of extra charges and baggage restrictions on short haul flights and budget airlines. Also allow plenty of time for getting to your important international flight!
In April I booked a round-trip flight from Newark to Nice. Cost was $1330. United/Lufthansa booked as multi-city flight.
Flight from Newark to Frankfurt, then on to Nice. Coming back, Nice to Munich, then on to Newark.
JFK does have a direct flight to Nice, but as you discovered it is more expensive, but then you don't have to connect.
Air France flies nearly hourly between Nice and CDG for anywhere between 90-290 euro, depending on the flight, for a one way. You can fly direct RT JFK to Nice on Air Franc/Delta for $1,250.
This may be the time to try a multi-city air ticket. Most travel and airline sites now offer this search capacity. Fly into Paris, home from Nice. To be clear, this does not involve two one-way tickets. The flights are booked together. Especially for France, the price is often nearly the same as a simple round trip to Paris.
Book open-jaw. Into Paris, home from Nice. I have always found open-jaw cheaper.
