We are traveling to Nice this June and would like to make a day trip out to Castellane for some rafting. Any suggestions on getting to and from Nice and Castellane in one day's time?

There is no train service. Here is some bus info, taking 2 hours each way from Nice: http://www.castellane.org/en/coming-to-castellane-by-bus.aspx.

A caveat ... I stayed in Castellane about 15 years ago, so this may not still apply.
I took a scenic train between Nice and St Andres les Alpes. Castellane isn't too far from St Andres les Alpes. so perhaps you could take a taxi for the final leg. I was hiking from town to town so don't know what the transport options in the area are like.
