Nice in June - Dining Help Requested

Hi -- We're two couples spending 7 nights in Nice towards the end of June and I'm trying to find some restaurants for the week. We're not really interested in overly fancy and pricey (don't need 100 Euro per person Michelin star places) but we do like quality. And I try to spend a lot of time beforehand to try to find really good places that will be enjoyable and memorable. Being with our friends and enjoying the evening is just as important as the food. So, any thoughts would be appreciated. We're pretty much open to anything. A few places that seem to get a lot of mention -- Comptoir du Marche, Le Galet, Bistrot d'Antoine, La Vigna, La Mere Germaine -- Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated

A couple other questions --
Is there a "normal" time for dinner? The last thing we want is to show up at 6:00 and be the only folks in the restaurant, (we're very flexible).

We would love to have at least one dinner with a great view. I looked into Le Plongeoir but could only get a 6:30 reservation. Is the place worth the early time? If not, anywhere else?

Le Plongeoir is worth it for the view. The food is not bad, it is just the location is unbeatable. 6:30 is an early time slot but will work as you'll be able to get great water views.

What type of foods are you seeking? There are plenty of places in the good quality for the price. Adding to your prior choices:
Old Town: Peixes, Bar des Oiseaux, Fine Guele, Olive et Artichaut, La Merenda
Carre d'O/Other: l"Alchimie, la Cantine du Meme, Cafe le Sejour, Franchin, Panisse, Bistrot de Jan,

Much appreciated for your recommendations. When you ask what type of food are we looking for, we’re very flexible - meaning a variety of cuisines, with a focus on what the region is best known for. But it’s very possible we may want pizza one night or Japanese the next. Basically, we try for what I call smart casual—stylish, great locations, nice interiors, and good food, but not overly gourmet, intimidating, or stuffy.

The list I provided includes mostly restaurants that fit that bill. I would say La Marenda is more rustic (true Nicois cuisine) and Franchin and Bistro de Jan are slightly more formal.

I forgot to answer a question: You may find first sittings at 7 or 7:30 pm in Nice. There are continuous service restaurants (service continu or service non-stop) but many (most?) are very tourist oriented.

There are a ton of pizza and italian restaurants in Nice --- many serve a modified French/Nicois version. But there are also more authentic Italian variants, whether Neopolitan or other other regional variants. Some examples include les Amoreaux (Port), La Voglio and Type 55 (Old Town), Vabbuo in the Carre d'OR, le Galet on the beach. There are also some very good Italian restaurants, including those with regional bents (like Ligurian, piementese, sicilian, etc), There are many Japanese restaurants like Onaka (sushi) in the Carre d'Or or Maidu (izakaya style) in the center.
