Nice in January

I am considering traveling to Nice in January for my birthday. Would fly in & stay 4 nights. Is that enough to get a feel for the city? Is there enough to see? Is January not that nice in Nice? LOL Seriously, I'm considering Nice or Barcelona. We've been to Paris a few times so I love the idea of going to France again. But maybe Barcelona is better in January for a short stay? Thoughts please. Thanks.

Oh we love art & history museums, cafes, beautiful buildings & long walks on the beach. But maybe not in January.

I have visited the Nice area several times and there is enough to do for weeks of visiting. I have not been there in January but have late February and it was lovely. I stayed in Villefranche sur Mer, one of my favourite places.

There is plenty to see and do in Nice in January. You can also visit nearby cities and towns quite easily via train or bus, as well. January is a bit of a quiet month, without a major festival. And certain towns out in the hills may have a fair number of closed businesses or restaurants (it's their vacation from the summer tourist invasion). The weather is not warm, but not freezing. Average low is in the low 40s and highs are in the 50s. You can experience warmer and colder days, plus rain or even a storm. Weather wise I'm not certain Barcelona would be any much better at this time of year -- the Med helps keeps things more temperate than the relatively northern latitude would suggest.

The Museum of Modern Art in Nice is well worth a visit, especially if you like Yves Klein's work.

Sounds like 4 days would give us a nice taste of the city. Now I just have to twist my husband's arm just a little bit. Thanks!
