Nice & Gorge du Verdon w/kids in August

Hello Dear Travel Friends,
I'm hoping to get some great tips for traveling with school aged kids in Nice and up to Gorge du Verdon in August. We'll have one week in Nice and one week in the area south of the Gorge du Verdon National Park. I'd love tips for kid friendly restaurants, beaches and ideas for day trips. Also, is there a Yelp-like app in France?
Thank you!

Hi,
There is Yelp in France but it's not super popular. It'll work in Nice, less so in the Gorges. Just use Google Maps & tripadvisor for ratings if need be, with the usual pinch of salt.
Near Nice, most beaches are pebbly, and Nice beach itself isn't very kid friendly because it's steeply sloped - you can't really wade in the water, it gets deep immediately. But I like Fourmis beach in nearby Beaulieu, which is sandy and sheltered.
Near the Gorges: which town exactly? If Bauduen on the Sainte-Croix lake is close to you, it has a great lake beach here: https://www.google.fr/maps/@43.7353445,6.1567982,585m/data=!3m1!1e3 . Also by all means hire a paddle boat or a more expensive electric boat to sail on said lake (get to the rental points early or you'll wait).

Restaurants in France are generally child friendly, many have kid menus (which do get repetitive), so unless you plan to go to a super fancy place I would not worry!

Thank you! Those tips are very helpful. Beaulieu looks perfect.

TripAdvisor is used more commonly in Nice for reviews, and you can use La Fourchette/The Fork (owned by TA, with integrated reviews) for both the reviews and reservations (only at certain restaurants).

For beaches, also consider the long stretch of sandy beach in Juan-les-Pins. It's easily reachable via a short train ride (more so than Antibes). There is a waterpark/Marineland in Antibes, although it is a bit run down (and was damaged in a storm a while back). There is Parc Phoenix in Nice, with gardens and play areas. Consider also the Train de Merveilles to the Franco-Italian hill towns, a boat trip to the Lerins Island, the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco. Check out the French Riviera Pass and see if the included activities make sense for you and your family (there are more ideas of things to do at the link). Also look into the Pass Isabelle Famille for the days you intend to take extensive train trips (if you qualify).
